Youth Basketball Grades 3rd-6th Registration Deadline – November 15, 2024 Grades K-2 Registration Deadline – December 31, 2024 Youth Basketball programs are offered for all Hartford residents in grades Kindergarten through 6th grade. The objective of HPRD's youth basketball program is to provide an opportunity for children to play basketball in an organized, competitive, yet recreational setting. Our emphasis will be teaching some basic skills and fundamentals, as well as teaching fair play, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Each player will receive a team t-shirt. All participants must provide a mouth guard and indoor sneakers. Players in grades 3-6 will be split up into equally matched teams. Practice and game times may vary between 4:00pm-8:00pm on weeknights, and 8:00am-1:00pm on Saturday’s, depending on the number of teams and gym availability.For Grades 3rd-6th – Teams will play games against surrounding towns and travel and have opportunities to play in tournaments. Pre-School Basketball is a developmentally appropriate introductory basketball program for children 3-5 years old. Pre-School Basketball teaches children (ages 3 to 5 in pre-school) the basic motor skills necessary to play organized basketball. The program focuses on teaching children skills in dribbling, shooting, passing, catching, and running/agility without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Held once a week for six weeks; each week the exercises become increasingly more difficult as the program progresses, and the children show improvement.Snow make-up date: 2/25*Participants must be 3 years old by 8/31/23

Instructors: VT Fish & Wildlife, Let's Go Fishing InstructorsLearn the basic skills of ice fishing like rigging and using a tip-up, using an auger to bore your fishing hole. Also included in the program is information about basic ice safety and how to determine adequate ice thickness for fishing. The best part is that you and your family will have the opportunity to experience ice fishing first hand - equipment is provided. What’s the catch? Children under the age of 15 must bring an adult since you’ll be learning and fishing together.Each person participating must register.

Youth Basketball Grades 3rd-6th Registration Deadline – November 15, 2024 Grades K-2 Registration Deadline – December 31, 2024 Youth Basketball programs are offered for all Hartford residents in grades Kindergarten through 6th grade. The objective of HPRD's youth basketball program is to provide an opportunity for children to play basketball in an organized, competitive, yet recreational setting. Pre-School Basketball is a developmentally appropriate introductory basketball program for children 3-5 years old. Pre-School Basketball teaches children (ages 3 to 5 in pre-school) the basic motor skills necessary to play organized basketball. The program focuses on teaching children skills in dribbling, shooting, passing, catching, and running/agility without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Held once a week for six weeks; each week the exercises become increasingly more difficult as the program progresses, and the children show improvement.Snow make-up date: 2/25*Participants must be 3 years old by 8/31/23

Instructors: VT Fish & Wildlife, Let's Go Fishing InstructorsLearn the basic skills of ice fishing like rigging and using a tip-up, using an auger to bore your fishing hole. Also included in the program is information about basic ice safety and how to determine adequate ice thickness for fishing. The best part is that you and your family will have the opportunity to experience ice fishing first hand - equipment is provided. What’s the catch? Children under the age of 15 must bring an adult since you’ll be learning and fishing together.Each person participating must register.

Pre-School Basketball is a developmentally appropriate introductory basketball program for children 3-5 years old. Pre-School Basketball teaches children (ages 3 to 5 in pre-school) the basic motor skills necessary to play organized basketball. The program focuses on teaching children skills in dribbling, shooting, passing, catching, and running/agility without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Instructors: VT Fish & Wildlife, Let's Go Fishing InstructorsLearn the basic skills of ice fishing like rigging and using a tip-up, using an auger to bore your fishing hole. Also included in the program is information about basic ice safety and how to determine adequate ice thickness for fishing. The best part is that you and your family will have the opportunity to experience ice fishing first hand - equipment is provided. What’s the catch? Children under the age of 15 must bring an adult since you’ll be learning and fishing together.Each person participating must register.

Don’t let the funny name fool you, Pickleball is a recreational game providing extraordinary physical fitness benefits for all ages.Location: White River School GymNets will be set-up on three courts and we encourage you to bring your own paddle. We have some paddles available if needed Registration is required. No drop-in play. All abilities welcome.Limited number of spaces available for each session.Participants are limited to sign-up for 1 session, not both.

Instructor: Dan MurrayYouth Futsal is a form of 5v5 soccer (co-ed)The surface, ball and rules create an emphasis on improvisation, creativity and technique as well as ball control and passing in small spaces. These factors combine to allow players to develop quick, confident touches, and make quick, confident decisions on and off the ball while playing a fast paced, exciting game.Players will need shin guards, indoor sneakers, and a water bottle.Sessions will focus on skills & drills and scrimmage games.No sessions on: 11/30, 12/24, 12/28, 12/31, 3/4

Instructors: Upper Valley Aquatic CenterFree Swim Lessons for 2nd & 3rd Graders from Hartford!Second and third graders are invited to participate in the UVAC Learn TO Swim Program in collaboration with Hartford Park & Recreation and the Upper Valley Aquatic Center. All ability levels are encouraged. Transportation will be provided by the UVAC and HPRD following school dismissal. Children supervised at all times by HPRD and UVAC staff. Join us for a beautiful evening under the full moon. This opportunity is perfect if you love the sport or looking for something new. Participants will need a headlamp and appropriate clothing.Snowshoes are available, if needed.After the hike, enjoy hot chocolate and snacks.
