Instructor: Daryl Seitchik
Daryl Seitchik is a cartoonist who loves drawing with kids! She has taught workshops at schools and museums throughout New England, and has enjoyed adapting these classes into a virtual format.  Daryl received her MFA  from the Center for Cartoon Studies in 2018, and her comics work has been nominated for Ignatz and Eisner Awards.  She recently became a cartoonist for The New Yorker.  
 
Materials Needed:
A computer with access to the zoom platform.  For art, just sharpened pencils, some pens, and a stack of blank paper!
 
Kids Comics Class:
Let your imagination come to life through comics!  This class will teach the basics of cartooning to children ages 9-13.  We'll cover character design, story structure, world-building, and the fundamentals of turning your brilliant ideas into beautiful pages of comics.  All you need is a pencil, some paper, and most importantly -- creativity!  

This course represents a collaboration between Creative Lives and the Hartford Rec. Dept. to apply a holistic approach based on Ellen Tadd’s Framework for Wise Education and is funded in part by a grant from the Jack and Dorothy Byrne Foundation.”
