Theater Camp
Creative Lives Musical Theater Camp!
An inspiring way to round-out the summer
Open to all interested students ages 7-12
Maximum enrollment: 24


Now that performing spaces have opened back up, The Rec. Dept. is partnering with local non-profit Creative Lives for a magical week of theater, song, dance, and creative arts at the Briggs Opera House!
 
Instructors:
Maureen Burford - Creative Lives’ Founding Director and former Artistic Director of Revels North
Skip Cady – performing artist and fine arts educator
Beth McGee – musician, arts educator, and costumier

Our Show: “A Barnyard Mystery (working title)” – featuring traditional American music, an original script adapted for our camp by the team, and a final performance at the Briggs!


Campers will learn basics of stage craft, participate in all aspects of creating our original production. This is an ensemble show with good roles for all participants. In fact, we will create parts based on the talents and interests of our participants, who will engage in all aspects of the show but may choose an emphasis on singing, dancing, acting, or helping design the production.

There will be no auditions prior to camp. Participants will have the option to be considered for speaking roles once camp begins.
 
Our camp will support youth with critical strengths from Ellen Tadd’s Framework for Wise Education™ -- the holistic approach shared by Creative Lives. Skill building will include focus, positive collaboration, self-esteem, and devotion to a job well done.  
 
Cost: $180.00
Dates: August 9th – August 13th
Time: 9:00am – 4:00pm
Show time: 2:00pm Friday
Location: Briggs Opera House
