Late Pick-up Policy

Hartford Parks and Recreation Department Late Pick-Up Policy

Participant safety is the highest priority of the Hartford Parks & Recreation Department. Therefore, we make every effort to ensure that all children are under appropriate supervision until they return to you at the end of their day. Parks and Recreation programs have a designated end time and part of our implicit agreement for your child(ren) to participate is that you can provide or make arrangements to pick-up by the program end time. The parent/guardian is expected to contact HPRD Staff and make them aware they will be arriving late.

It is the Hartford parks & Recreation Department policy to assess a “late pick-up fee” to any parent/guardian that fails to pick-up their child(ren) prior to the program closing time.

Parents/Guardians who are late picking up their child(ren) will be assessed a late fee. Late fees must be paid in full prior to the next program session. Parents/Guardians will be charged a late fee of $1.00 per minute for every minute after the program end time. If someone other than a parent is late picking up the child, the parent is still responsible for paying the fee. Fees that are not paid at the time of pick-up will be assessed in the participant’s Hartford Parks & Rec account.

If a child has not been picked up from the site twenty (20) minutes after the program has ended and the staff has made attempts to contact the child’s parents and their emergency contact list, the staff will call the police department and turn the child over to them. This may result in the child’s dismissal from the program.
Anyone picking up a child who is not on the child’s pick-up authorization list will need to be approved through written authorization or a direct phone call from the parent/ guardian before the child may leave.
