Scott joined Hartford Parks & Recreation in 2013 as its Assistant Director and currently serves as the Director of Parks and Recreation. Prior to Hartford, Scott worked for 17 years as the Director in Claremont, New Hampshire. Originally from the Kansas City area, Scott's career journey led him to New England. With a passion for Special Event Programming and Facility Development, Scott has been actively involved in capital fundraising campaigns and the planning and implementation of various improvement projects in the communities that he has served. Throughout his career, Scott has managed diverse facilities, including a community center, outdoor sports complex, and our own Wendell A. Barwood Arena. Scott is not only a past president but also an active member of the Vermont Recreation and Park Association, the New England Park Association, and has served as a member and President of the New Hampshire Park and Recreation Association. Beyond his professional achievements, Scott finds joy in outdoor activities such as fishing, kayaking, camping, and cherishing moments with family.

Jay McDonough, CPRP, Superintendent of Recreation Programs

Jay McDonough joined HPRD in 2010 as a Summer Intern and now serves as the Superintendent of Recreation Programs, which includes overseeing, youth/adult sports, camps, special events, trips, and aquatics. Jay earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation, Park, and Tourism Management from the Pennsylvania State University. Jay resides in Hartford with his wonderful family. His son and daughter are very active in youth sports and rec programs with the Hartford Rec Department.
His hobbies include, fly fishing, camping, snowboarding, and hunting.

Corey is from Sharon VT he graduated from Hartford high School he looks forward to hunting season and snowmobiling in the winter making maple syrup in the spring with family and friends.

Tatum Barnes, Recreation Specialist

Tatum Barnes is a New Yorker by birth and New Englander by temperament. He graduated from Williams College with a bachelor's degree in psychology, and from Teacher's College with Master's degree in the psychology of education. A life-long youth worker, he’s been a camp counselor, tutor, mentor, classroom teacher, and meditation facilitator. Tatum lives in Pomfret with his wife Taylor and son Rafael, and can often be found bird-watching. skiing, and performing improv comedy.

Margaret is from Portsmouth, Rhode Island. She graduated with 2 degrees in Graphic Design and Environmental Science from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine. She has work history in graphic design and marketing as well as being a part of the crew at Roger Williams Park Zoo. You can catch her enjoying some time on the slopes in the winter and kayaking at some of our parks in the summer.
