Story Seekers Book Club
Instructor: Victoria Lester
The Story Seekers is a 6-week after-school enrichment program designed to foster a love of reading through creativity, collaboration, and hands-on experiences!
Participants will read a selected middle-grade novel together and engage in interactive projects that bring the story to life. Each session will include guided reading, group discussion, and a themed activity directly connected to the chapters read that day.
This is not an academic tutoring program. It is a fun, low-pressure space where students can explore stories, express creativity, and connect with peers.
Each 2-hour session will follow a consistent structure.
- Welcome & recap
- Guided reading (first half of session)
- Discussion
- Story-connected activity (second half of session)
Activities may include:
- Collaborative world-building (maps, settings, 3D scenes)
- Character design and artistic interpretation
- Problem-solving challenges inspired by plot events
- Scene re-creations and visual storytelling
- Group reflection, themed games and adventures
Book Selection Process
To increase engagement and ownership, participants will be invited to vote on the book selection at the time of registration.
A short survey will be included with sign-up materials, allowing students to choose from three carefully selected middle-grade titles.
Proposed book options:
- "A Rover's Story," by Jasmine Warga
(Build your own Rover craft, create-a-planet art projects, teamwork challenges, astronaut training games, and simple engineering activities inspired by the book.)
