Get outside this winter and enjoy one of our great local mountains!Transportation will be provided by HPRD Participants must be a independent skiers/riders and competent on intermediate terrain.Lessons will not be offered.What: Skiing and Riding at Whaleback Mountain When: Tuesdays - 1/20, 1/27, 2/3, 2/10, 2/17 Program Time: 3:00pm-6:30pm. The van will depart from Town Hall at 3:00pm and return to Town Hall at 6:30pm Who: Hartford 3rd-8th Graders How? Participants must register with HPRD to secure a spot on the van. The HPRD Fee covers transportation/supervision during the program. Participants also need to purchase a lift ticket pass from Whaleback. Trip Leaders: Tatum Barnes & Jay McDonough, HPRD Staff

Instructor: Wayne Carter Wayne has been teaching comics in the upper valley since 2022 and was recently an artist in residence for the National Park Service at Saint-Gaudens. Calling all young artists, storytellers, and superhero inventors! Afterschool Comics Club is a fun, creative space where kids bring their ideas to life through drawing, doodling, and storytelling. Each week, kids will learn how to:Create awesome characters (heroes, villains, and silly sidekicks!)Turn ideas into comic strips and mini-storiesAdd speech bubbles, sound effects, and action scenesExplore different cartooning styles and techniques No experience needed—just imagination! Whether your child loves to draw, tell stories, or make people laugh, this club is all about creativity, confidence, and having fun. At the end of the session, kids will have their own original comics to share and be proud of.Draw it. Write it. Share it. Be a comic creator!
