Instructors: Jean Carlan and others who have decades of combined skating & instructing experienceLearn to skate or level up your current skills on the smooth concrete at Barwood Arena. This 4-week series on Monday evenings, beginning June 16, is for Absolute Beginners, Beginners and Intermediate levels skaters. Attendees will be divided into appropriate levels for instruction for the first half and then guided open skate for the second half. Attendees need to be at least 5 years old and have their own skates, helmet, wrist & knee pads.Foundational skills will be emphasized, including falling and getting up, proper body position and balance, stopping techniques, forward and backward skating, safety and etiquette, drills and exercises and adapting to different skate conditions. This 4-week series on Monday evenings, beginning June 16, is for Absolute Beginners, Beginners and Intermediate levels skaters. Perfect also for adults who were rink rats back in the day and now looking to rekindle that magic of skating. Intermediate sessions will vary based on attendees but may include transitions, heel & toe manuals, edge control, spinning, jam skating elements, etc. Although this series will be roller skate centric, inline skates are allowed since the beginner skills are nearly the same. Besides having the desire and equipment to skate, attendees to these group lessons should have average physical fitness and be able to participate in a group of learners with a ratio of 10:1. (If your child/adult needs extra attention or preparation or they aren’t 5 years old yet, we may be able to accommodate them in a future series.)The 5:30-6:30 time session is for 5-year-olds and up…this includes adults too. The session starting at 6:45 is for adults only (16+). Registrants are welcome to come 15 minutes early to stretch and get ready. Classes will start on time. For questions or concerns about the series, email the head organizer, Jean Carlan, at uvrollerskate@gmail.com. If you are looking to buy new skates or gear, email uvrollerskate@gmail.com for a 10% discount code at the Nashua, NH skate shop, Bruised Boutique.
